MY2008 (Facelift) Audi A5 3.0TDI Quattro SportListed as spares or repair – problem with boost from turbo, please see below. Also requires new glow plugs and driver’s side front wheel bearing.MoT to December 2024135k miles on the clock – starts, runs and drives but has a boost issue, it needs new glow plugs (struggles to start when cold – never FAILS to start, just struggles), and driver’s side front wheel bearing needs replacing (audible whining when driving but no vibration or knocking – I know that it’s the driver’s side front because I’ve replaced the other three, just fed up with faffing now).The biggest issue with this car is the lack of boost from the turbo – it boosts fine in first, but as soon as you hit second gear then the boost disappears. You can have your foot on the floor and nothing happens, just a booming noise in the exhaust. No warning lights on, no fault codes, nothing.Having done some research it seemed that the biggest culprit was likely either the turbo actuator motor, and/or the variable vane ring, I therefore had the turbo re-cored and recalibrated by Turbo Force NW in Preston (receipts to prove) and refitted it with new o-rings and gaskets.
